The initial setup is initiated by MOSIP, the Modular Open Source Identity Platform. This use case outlines how health insurance certificates provided as a Verifiable Credentials can be used for seamless verification at a hospital for proof of coverage.

  • Context:

    David, the policyholder, needs to present proof of health insurance at CityCare Hospital for a routine check-up. Using his Inji Mobile Wallet, he stores and presents his insurance certificate as a Verifiable Credential, enabling the hospital to verify his coverage securely and efficiently.


    Prerequisites

    To participate in this use case:

    • A compliant digital wallet (e.g., Inji Mobile Wallet) supporting health insurance Verifiable Credentials is required.

    • Access to Stay Protected Insurance Company for certificate issuance via Inji Certify.

    • The hospital's health verification portal must integrate with the Inji Verify component for seamless verification.



    1. Obtaining a Health Insurance Certificate:

    • David downloads and securely stores his insurance certificate as a Verifiable Credential in the Inji Mobile Wallet.

    • The certificate includes a QR code generated by the system, embedding verifiable credentials for secure sharing and later use.

    2. Presenting the Certificate at CityCare Hospital:

    • David visits the hospital for his check-up. At registration, he opens the Inji Mobile Wallet and selects his health insurance certificate.

    • He presents the QR code within the credential, which the hospital staff scans via their health portal.

    • The system verifies the certificate with Stay Protected Insurance Company and confirms:

      • Policyholder Name

      • Coverage Validity

      • Policy ID

    Outcome:
    The hospital validates the certificate, ensuring secure and efficient onboarding while protecting patient data integrity.
