Fort 5 is a historic fort listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. It is located near Vijfhuizen on the western edge of the Haarlemmermeer, between Haarlem and Hoofddorp. The Defense Line of Amsterdam was a defensive ring situated 10 to 15 kilometers around the center of Amsterdam.
This event will showcase real-world use cases across two key themes: Trusted Webshops and Trusted Skills, while also introducing Trusted Digital Media and Trusted Product Passports.
Originally, plugfests are testing events where manufacturers and developers test each other's products or services to demonstrate interoperability and resolve compatibility issues. We believe in the strength of this concept to accelerate the development and adoption of digital wallets, which play a important role in fostering digital trust.
This plugfest will allow 3rd party providers to demonstrate the interoperability capabilities of their personal wallets. In future FIDES Plugfests they will also be able to demonstrate interop capabilities of “organisational wallets” (issuer, relying party and holder functionality) and Digital Product Passports.
During the first FIDES Plugfest a pre-selected group of international wallet providers will demonstrate their solution in concrete use cases in below tracks:
Trusted Webshops
Explore how digital wallets and attestations can enhance the security, ease, and reliability of online shopping, benefiting both webshop owners and their customers.
This track is made possible by Dutch Tax Authority, Dutch Chamber of Commerce, Thuiswinkel.org, Zonweringstunter.nl, Decathlon, DeOnlineDrogist, Impierce Technologies, Webkracht, Credenco and Sphereon.
Trusted Skills
See how digital wallets and attestations can revolutionize recruitment and hiring processes by integrating digital IDs with formal education credentials, professional certifications, and micro-credentials, offering a reliable mechanism for all parties involved.
This track is made possible by Skills Embassy, SURF, Ministry of Defence, Impierce Technologies Salta Group, NCOI, EVC Nederland, 8Vance and BrainsFirst.
Trusted eBusiness
Learn how digital wallets can streamline procurement processes, enabling buyers to easily request digital, machine-readable sustainability certificates or other company credentials, and allowing suppliers to provide this information seamlessly across borders and domains.
This track has been transitioned into a FIDES Lab.
Findynet Discount Eligibility Use Case
In addition to the use cases above, third-party wallet providers are invited to demonstrate interoperability with a use case initiated and facilitated by Findynet. This is an excellent example of an R&D lab showcasing interoperability between different wallet providers. One of the key innovations in this lab is the use of the OpenID Federation specification.
📄 Interop Specifications
The plugfest will provide an open sandbox infrastructure that allow the use of any compliant (personal) wallet to follow the track’s user story. This open sandbox infrastructure will also be available after the plugfest so anybody can replay the user story at any other moment or location with any compliant wallet.
Trusted Digital Media
Address the challenge of verifying digital content authenticity in the age of AI. Discover how EU Digital wallets can identify the authentic sender of a video or photo and prove that the content hasn’t been altered, based on the EUDI wallet specifications and the C2PA protocol.
This track has been transitioned into a FIDES Lab.
Agenda
The inaugural FIDES Plugfest will be a combination of plenary sessions to introduce the tracks and demonstrations and informal networking during longer breaks.
During the keynotes, we will introduce FIDES and highlight the importance of digital trust, with a focus on the identities of individuals, organizations, and things.
The demos and DIY sessions offer interactive opportunities for attendees to experience how these applications work firsthand, as well as time to catch up and network with fellow participants.
No panel discussions or long presentations—just hands-on learning and engagement.

Keynote - How to achieve broad EU Digital Wallet adoption? | 10 min
”Rather than searching for a single killer use case for the EUDI wallet, let's focus on building a broad public-private use case ecosystem. The ecosystem’s reach and use case variety will ultimately serve as the 'killer use case' needed for EUDI wallet adoption.”
by Konrad Degen (German EUDI Wallet & GovTech @SPRIND)

”The integration of DPPs is revolutionizing industries by enhancing transparency and compliance across sectors, helping to achieve this goal. However, true progress in the circular economy requires collaboration—not talking about each other, but with each other. Aligning digital solutions and working together is essential to meet sustainability standards and accelerate the shift to a fully digitalized, circular economy.”
by Elliana Jensen-Abieva (CircularTech)
Wallet Roast | 15 min
Since the European Commission launched its “toolbox” for digital identities in June 2021, the journey has been anything but smooth. While the initiative aims to create a robust framework with common standards, delays and concerns around privacy and security persist. Jaromil will dissect the evolving Architecture Reference Framework (ARF), highlighting both innovative solutions and common pitfalls to watch out for.

Trusted Skills keynote | 15 min
”As highlighted by the World Economic Forum in 2019, ‘we do not have a labor shortage, but a discrepancy in the labor market,’ and a skills-based approach will be the game changer. The Skills Embassy’s research from 2021-2024 supports this, showing that the WEF may indeed be right.”
by Hans Cremer (Skills Embassy)

FIDES Plugfests are not sales shows but an honest demonstration of the current state of technology.
These events also serve to identify existing gaps (technical, legal, ethical, etc.) in the current solutions. Each digital wallet showcased must comply with clearly described interop profiles defined upfront, based on the EUDI wallet specifications. Over a few weeks, selected solution providers will fine-tune their solutions to demonstrate true interoperability. The results will be showcased at the event, inviting a diverse range of stakeholders, including policymakers, decision-makers, press, sponsors, and public interest groups.
FIDES is an international movement dedicated to the continuous improvement of digital trust on the internet.
This first Plugfest will be used to test the concept and gather feedback. In the coming years, additional Plugfests will be planned on a bi-annual basis. Interested parties are welcome to organize their own FIDES Plugfests elsewhere in the world, following a similar approach and based on the principles of the FIDES Manifesto.
