Samsung SDS Unified Digital Wallet
by K4-Security
Samsung SDS Unified Digital Wallet: Applying a Hierarchical Key Management Mechanism to Deliver Decentralized Identity, Security Token, and Stablecoin Services in a Single Digital Wallet. This use case designs an integrated key management structure that enables a financial group, together with its subsidiaries (bank, securities, capital, credit card company, Official Municipal Treasury etc.), to design and operate a wide range of services (STO, Stablecoin, DI, etc.). Leveraging W3C DID/VC, the solution provides not only user eKYC/IAM but also a kill switch (ON/OFF) capability for policy functions, so that the wallet can respond flexibly to changes in the service provider's service policies. It further provides functions covering digital wallet issuance requests, issuance, and personalization (PID, RBAC, Service Policy, etc.); service key management (STO key, Stablecoin key, blockchain address, Account key, etc.); and security/audit handling in the event of wallet loss or damage. In particular, the Root Wallet can control the functions of Sub Wallets through a Policy function, newly applying a Master-Slave hierarchical function inheritance model.

How it works
(1) Membership Registration
- The user registers for the key custody service by submitting the required information with a PID (or vLEI for legal entities), which is used as a reference ID.
(2) Digital Wallet Provisioning
- A Master Wallet creates and assigns a Slave Wallet.
- After approval, the user's wallet, cryptographic keys, and Authentication VC are generated and issued.
(3) Wallet Activation
- The Authentication VC enables access to services within the integrated wallet.
(4) Service Usage
- KYC is performed through W3C DID/VC using the Authentication VC.
- For a new service (e.g., a Stablecoin wallet), the Authentication VC is presented for identity verification, and a Service VC is issued.
- After approval, the backend updates the user profile, and the service Master Wallet creates and assigns a Slave Wallet.
- During transactions, the Service VC is used as the primary credential for authorization. Additional VCs or approvals may be required.
(5) Wallet Update
- The user completes KYC, submits a change request with attestation, and receives a change code.
- After verifying the code and authorization, wallet information (e.g., cryptographic keys) is updated.
