Reusable KYC on open standards: verify once, present anywhere, re-collect nothing
by Solidus Network
A person completes identity verification once, receives a verifiable credential they hold themselves, and presents it to any number of independent verifiers without re-submitting documents. Each verifier learns only the attributes it actually needs. Solidus Network implements this on multi-stakeholder open standards rather than a proprietary format: W3C Verifiable Credentials 2.0, SD-JWT VC with holder key binding, OpenID4VCI for issuance, OpenID4VP with Presentation Exchange for presentation, BBS+ for selective disclosure, StatusList for revocation, and DIDComm v2 routing through a full mediator. The did:solidus method is registered in the W3C DID Method Registry, which is a registry listing rather than a W3C standard or endorsement. The implementation is open source and published on npm under @solidus-network, so a credential issued here is readable by any conformant wallet or verifier, and the tooling is reusable by anyone building the same thing rather than rebuilding it. It runs today on a public testnet. The wallet is in beta. There is no production deployment and no external security audit.

How it works
1. Issue. The holder verifies their identity at verify.solidus.network, which reads a passport or national ID document (ICAO 9303 MRZ and NFC chip). On success the issuer mints a KYCVerified credential over OpenID4VCI, in W3C VC 2.0 and SD-JWT VC formats, cryptographically bound to the holder's key.
2. Hold. The credential is delivered to the holder's wallet at wallet.solidus.network, in beta on testnet. The holder's identity keys are did:solidus DIDs. Revocation status is published as a StatusList.
3. Present. A second relying party requests a presentation over OpenID4VP, stating its requirements as a Presentation Exchange presentation_definition. The wallet answers with a BBS+ selective-disclosure proof that reveals only the requested attributes, withholds the rest of the credential, and proves holder binding.
4. Result. The second party is satisfied without collecting the document and without contacting the first. No second copy of the passport is created.
The issuer metadata is public at verify.solidus.network/.well-known/openid-credential-issuer.

The FIDES Use Case Catalog aims to provide a clear and up-to-date overview of how verifiable credentials and digital wallets are used in the real world. While FIDES Labs BV does not assume responsibility or liability for the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of the information presented, we have made a best effort to compile a representative overview. The data is aggregated from publicly available sources and from information published by the organisations themselves.
Add or update a use case:
- List your organization first (if it is not in the Organizations catalog).
- Then submit a use case or suggest an update to an existing use case.
Both flows require a FIDES Community account. Submissions are reviewed before publication.
