Nordhaus: Open a Bank Account
by Authbound
Nordhaus is a fictional Nordic retail bank. We built it for the moment every licensed bank already has: you cannot issue an IBAN or a debit card until KYC is signed, and the customer is already halfway out the door. Today that moment is a liveness vendor and a waiting room. The bank pays per attempt, stores a pile of identity images, and still cannot prove much more than someone uploaded a photo. Drop-off is the product. We made Nordhaus a full bank front, not a KYC widget, so a product or compliance lead can walk the journey and see the account exist afterwards. Authbound Wallet presents given_name, family_name, birth_date, nationality, and age_over_18. A pass is a signed KYC record. The same sitting mints the Finnish IBAN and the virtual debit, so the money is actually movable. That is the sale: cheaper onboarding, no document warehouse, and a customer who did not bounce.

How it works
Anna opens Nordhaus and taps Open account with EUDI Wallet.
Flow title: Open Nordhaus account. Authbound Wallet shows given_name, family_name, birth_date, nationality, age_over_18. Anna accepts. If Authbound ID is missing, the demo issues it first.
Identity verified. KYC complete. IBAN and virtual debit card are ready to issue.
Confirm identity details: Anna Example, born 1996-03-14, nationality FI.
Accept IBAN FI73 1940 6X24. Activate debit card ending 4827.
Welcome to Nordhaus, Anna. Account live. Open dashboard.

The FIDES Use Case Catalog aims to provide a clear and up-to-date overview of how verifiable credentials and digital wallets are used in the real world. While FIDES Labs BV does not assume responsibility or liability for the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of the information presented, we have made a best effort to compile a representative overview. The data is aggregated from publicly available sources and from information published by the organisations themselves.
Add or update a use case:
- List your organization first (if it is not in the Organizations catalog).
- Then submit a use case or suggest an update to an existing use case.
Both flows require a FIDES Community account. Submissions are reviewed before publication.
