Hala Mobility: Verified Rider Onboarding
by Unique Identification Authority of India
Hala Mobility is an electric mobility platform that manufactures and rents electric scooters to delivery partners, enabling last-mile logistics for food delivery, e-commerce, and quick commerce platforms. Similar to shared mobility providers such as Lime, Voi, and Tier in Europe, Hala Mobility enables riders to access vehicles without lengthy paperwork while ensuring a trusted onboarding process. Before renting an electric scooter, Hala Mobility can use the Aadhaar App to perform secure, consent-based identity verification of delivery partners. Riders share a digitally signed verifiable credential from the Aadhaar App, allowing Hala Mobility to instantly verify their identity without requiring physical Aadhaar copies or manual document verification. This reduces onboarding time, prevents identity fraud, and enables a seamless, paperless rental experience while ensuring that only verified individuals are provided access to long-term vehicle rentals. Hala mobility through gridlines (TSP) does 8000 - 10000 presentations per month using Aadhaar App.

How it works
How It Works
A delivery partner applies to rent an electric scooter through the Hala Mobility application or onboarding portal.
During onboarding, Hala Mobility initiates an identity verification request by invoking the Aadhaar App.
The Aadhaar App opens and requests the rider's consent to share the required demographic information for identity verification.
Upon consent, the Aadhaar App generates a digitally signed verifiable credential containing only the requested identity attributes and securely shares it with the Hala Mobility application.
Hala Mobility verifies the credential cryptographically using UIDAI's trust framework, confirming that the identity information is authentic and has not been tampered with.
Once verification is successful, the rider's onboarding is completed, and the electric scooter can be rented to the verified individual for the agreed rental period.
This app-to-app verification flow enables fast, secure, and privacy-preserving rider onboarding while eliminating manual document verification and reducing the risk of identity fraud.
