Updated wallet catalogs launched

FIDES has released a major update to its Personal Wallet Catalog and Business Wallet Catalog. While these catalogs already existed, this release marks an important step forward in usability, data quality, and ecosystem participation.

The updated catalogs are designed to better support organizations, developers, policymakers, and ecosystem initiatives that are moving from experimentation toward real-world deployment of digital wallets.

What’s new in this release

The latest update introduces several substantial improvements:

  • Advanced filtering and search, making it easier to navigate a growing number of wallets
  • Richer, more structured data per wallet, enabling clearer comparison
  • Better insight into roles, supported profiles, and capabilities
  • New: provider-managed entries, allowing wallet providers to actively maintain and enrich their own information

Together, these changes transform the catalogs from static overviews into living infrastructure for the wallet ecosystem.

Provider-managed data: a new model

A key innovation in this release is that wallet providers can now manage their own catalog entries.

The FIDES Wallet Catalog contains data from publicly available sources — including the wallet overview maintained by the OpenWallet Foundation and the EU Digital Identity Landscape (curated by asquared) — as well as information published directly by wallet providers themselves.

Providers can enrich and maintain their entries by:

  • Publishing data via DID documents and referenced service endpoints
  • Submitting updates through a public GitHub repository (via pull requests)
  • Providing structured JSON files if DID-based publication is not yet available

FIDES aggregates and presents this data transparently; providers remain responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of their own information.

Since the launch, multiple wallet providers have already contributed updates via GitHub, and the contribution flow is working smoothly.

Deep linking and roadmap

In the most recent release, it is now also possible to deep link directly to individual wallet entries. This makes it easier for providers to reference their catalog entry from their own websites, documentation, or ecosystem pages.

In addition, the first feature requests from the community have been received and added to the roadmap, reinforcing the catalog’s role as a collaborative ecosystem asset.

Not about rankings, but adoption

The FIDES Wallet Catalog is not intended to rank or endorse wallets. Its purpose is to:

  • Reduce friction in wallet selection
  • Improve transparency and comparability
  • Support ecosystem alignment and adoption at scale

As the wallet landscape continues to mature, keeping information accurate, current, and openly accessible becomes increasingly important.

Wallet providers and ecosystem participants are invited to contribute, provide feedback, and help further improve the catalog.
