Why the Ecosystem Explorer matters
Digital trust ecosystems are difficult to understand because the relevant information is often scattered across websites, pilots, standards, GitHub repositories and vendor documentation. A wallet may support a certain credential format, an issuer may provide a specific credential, and a relying party may accept it in a real-world service — but these connections are rarely visible in one place.
The FIDES Ecosystem Explorer makes these connections easier to discover. It brings together wallets, issuers, credential types, relying parties and use cases, so organizations can better understand what already exists, which solutions are being used in practice, and where opportunities for reuse and collaboration can be found.
From isolated components to a working ecosystem
A digital credential only becomes useful when the full chain works. An issuer must be able to issue trusted data, a wallet must be able to store and present it, and a relying party must be able to verify and use it in a real process. Many initiatives focus on one part of this chain: a wallet, a credential, a standard or a pilot. The Ecosystem Explorer helps show how these parts fit together. It makes visible which actors play which role, which credential types are available, which wallets support reuse, and where credentials are already accepted by relying parties.

What you can discover
Personal wallets show how individuals can store and present credentials. Business wallets show how organisations can manage credentials, mandates and trusted interactions. Issuers show which organizations provide verifiable data. Credential types show what kind of trusted information can be reused. Relying parties show where wallets and credentials are accepted in real-world services.Together, these views help answer practical questions: Which wallets exist? Which credentials are already being issued? Who can issue trusted data? Where can these credentials be used? And which gaps still need to be solved before a use case can scale?
Supporting reuse and interoperability
One of the main challenges in digital identity and verifiable credentials is reuse. Many pilots create new credential types, new integrations and new trust assumptions for each separate project. This makes adoption slower and makes it harder for others to build on what already exists.By making credential types, issuers, wallets and relying parties more discoverable, FIDES helps organisations identify existing building blocks before creating new ones. This supports interoperability, reduces duplication and helps move the market from isolated experiments towards reusable digital trust infrastructure.
Who is it for?
The Ecosystem Explorer is useful for public authorities, businesses, technology providers, policymakers, researchers and ecosystem builders. Public organizations can use it to understand which trusted data sources and wallet solutions are emerging. Businesses can use it to explore wallet-based services and reusable credentials. Technology providers can use it to position their solutions and identify integration opportunities. For anyone new to digital wallets and verifiable credentials, the Explorer provides a practical starting point. Instead of beginning with abstract standards, visitors can start by looking at real actors, real credential types and real use cases.
A living discovery layer
The Ecosystem Explorer is not intended to be a static directory. It is a living discovery layer for digital trust. As new wallets, issuers, credential types, relying parties and use cases emerge, they can be added, improved and connected to the wider ecosystem. This helps the FIDES Community build a shared view of what is happening in the market and where collaboration is needed. By making the ecosystem visible, FIDES helps organisations move from exploration to implementation, and from isolated pilots to real-world adoption.
