Full House & Fresh Insights at FIDES Plugfest #1: “Digital Wallets in Action”

Fort 5, Vijfhuizen — 7 November 2024

Rooms packed, energy high, and, most importantly, substantive progress on digital-wallet interoperability. The very first FIDES Plugfest brought an international, cross-sector community together to test, showcase and accelerate trusted identities and wallets.

Highlights in a nutshell
• Standing-room-only crowd of innovators, developers, policy-makers, and industry leaders.
• Keynote line-up:
• Konrad Degen (SPRIND)
• Niels Bouwman (Verify)
• Elliana Jensen-Abieva (CircularTech)
• Hans Cremer (Skillsambassade)
• “Wallet Roast”: a sharp-but-humorous reality check by Denis “Jaromil” Roio (Forkbomb BV).
• Two live-demo tracks: Trusted Webshops and Trusted Skills, showing how individual and organisational wallets work seamlessly in real-world scenarios.

What we built together

Participants connected their solutions to the open FIDES sandbox, executing scenario-based tests against published interoperability specs. All demos are now permanently available in the Use Case Catalog of the FIDES Open Sandbox—feel free to replay them or register your own wallet for validation.

Community at work

From Impierce Technologies to Sphereon, Credenco, AuvoDigital, TALAO, iLabs, Webkracht, 8vance and many more, a wide range of companies, public-sector bodies and ecosystem partners powered the day. Their support—and the feedback shared on-site—underscores the momentum behind open, cross-border collaboration on digital trust.

Where we’re heading next

The FIDES roadmap doesn’t stop here. Look out for two thematic Plugfests in 2025:
1. “Organisational Wallets in Action”
2. “Digital Product Passports in Action” (co-hosted with CircularTech)

If you’d like to help shape the agenda, ratify the FIDES Manifesto and join the community today. Together we’ll keep experimenting, learning and building a transparent overview of the state of trust tech.
