Verifiable Trade & Compliance

This track builds on the results of the recently completed Direct e-Invoicing track.
Building on this, a new community track is being launched: Verifiable Trade & Compliance — extending the same principles to a broader set of trade and compliance processes.
As with previous tracks, the approach is hands-on and iterative, working in phases of approximately 6 months. We are currently preparing the first phase, planned for Q2–Q4 2026, and are actively exploring which organizations would like to participate and co-fund the track.
The Dutch Tax Authority (Belastingdienst NL) has already expressed interest in joining again, and conversations with additional Dutch and international stakeholders are ongoing.
The scope and use cases of this track are intentionally not fixed upfront. They will be co-defined with participating organizations, based on shared priorities, real-world challenges, and available funding.
This track builds directly on the outcomes of Direct e-Invoicing and expands the scope towards other types of trade documents, further aligning with UN/CEFACT Verifiable Trade Documents (UN VTD) specifications.
One of the use cases currently being explored is the import of vehicles via the Port of Rotterdam, involving multiple roles and stakeholders, including:
- Regulators and authorities (e.g. Belastingdienst, Dutch Customs)
- Port authorities (e.g. Port of Rotterdam)
- Logistics providers (sea, land, air transport)
- Customs and tax authorities in other countries
- Chambers of Commerce
- Manufacturers and traders in the automotive value chain
- Business systems / software vendors (ERP, accounting, trade, supply chain)
- Qualified Trust Service Providers (QTSPs)
