Agentic eCommerce

Agentic eCommerce explores how autonomous agents can participate in digital commerce — securely, transparently, and in compliance with existing regulations.

A new community track is being launched, focusing on real-world experimentation with agent-driven transactions, using digital wallets and verifiable data.

As with other FIDES Community tracks, the approach is hands-on and iterative, working in a phase of approximately 6 months. The first phase is planned to take place in 2026, with participating organizations collaborating on concrete use cases and implementations.

The Dutch Tax Authority (Belastingdienst NL) and the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK) have already expressed interest in participating. Additional organizations are currently being invited to join and co-fund the track.

The scope and use cases are intentionally flexible and will be co-defined with participating organizations, based on shared priorities, real-world challenges, and available funding.

This track focuses on the intersection of:

  • Autonomous agents (AI-driven or rule-based)
  • Digital wallets (for organizations, agents, and individuals)
  • Verifiable credentials and presentations
  • Payment and transaction flows
  • Compliance and reporting requirements

The goal is to explore how agents can:

  • Discover and interact with services and providers
  • Request and present verifiable data
  • Execute transactions (e.g. orders, payments)
  • Operate within existing legal and compliance frameworks

Example use cases may include:

  • Automated procurement or purchasing flows
  • Agent-driven ordering and invoicing
  • Compliance-aware transactions (e.g. tax, reporting)
  • Integration with existing eCommerce and payment infrastructures

Organizations interested in shaping the scope and participating in this track are invited to get in touch.
