FIDES Events

FIDES Events are an honest demonstration of the current state of technology, not sales shows.

Practical experience with technology that’s shaping our digital future.

Plugfests are special events where anyone, not just tech experts, can experience how digital wallets and credentials work in real-world scenarios. They are designed for policymakers, politicians, journalists, C-level leaders, and curious citizens who want to understand this technology, by trying it.

Plugfests can be part of broader Community Tracks. The examples remain available online so the experience can continue also after the plugfest event.

Want to organize a Plugfest?

Plugfests are open by design. Any organization can propose one around a geographical region, domain or use case that matters to them. FIDES Labs can assist where needed, but plugfests are open to all and shaped by those who initiate them.

Why Plugfests Matter

Many people are being asked to make decisions about digital trust, without ever having used a wallet or credential. Plugfests offer an honest demonstration of the current state of the technology: what works, what doesn’t, and why it matters.

They create shared understanding, not just between developers, but across sectors, roles, and perspectives.

What happens behind the scenes?

Every plugfest is powered by deep technical preparation from wallet providers and developers:

– Interop profiles (e.g. OID4VP, SD-JWT)
– Semantic alignment and shared testbeds
– Compliance tests to ensure things actually work together

That effort sets the stage for meaningful, non-technical engagement during the event itself.

Anyone can organize a plugfest.
